THE INTERNAL ALCHEMY OF TAIJI QUAN

 22nd, 23rd & 24th August 26

 Henton,  Somerset

 BA5 1PD

This three day workshop will have at its core the internal mobilization of Qi and its alchemical effect on the Nei gong aspects of our practice of Taiji Quan.

Areas of training

·     Opening the gates and channels of our bodies (Kai Men)

This is an essential aspect of an internal practitioners training regime as it is the first level of Song. The gates and channels must be opened before one can begin to release through the body

·     Building of our Taiji bodies (Qi body)

Having opened our bodies sufficiently the building of the Dantian is the next essential element of our practice. In time the QI flows from the Dantian through the opened gates and channels to fill the body and create the Taiji Body (Qi body)

·     The Yang 37 form

The practise will be around the skeletal structure of Yang 37 form as taught in The Lotus Nei Gong School of Daoist Arts, the connective tissues and naturally progressing into the correct energetic qualities as the Qi body is built

·     Fundamental paired exercises of pushing hands (Tui Shou)

The students will be led systematically through the process of skill accumulation of the deep and profound internal methods that are almost exclusive to the Lotus Nei Gong School . The skills around pushing hands in the school are inner door methods and personify the internal qualities of its Taiji Quan practise

The workshop will be taught by LNG senior teacher Paul Mitchell who has studied the Internal and External methods of Asia for several decades.

As with all of Pauls courses those new to these studies will be made most welcome and every effort will be made to make their experience a positive one

On Saturday evening we will get together for a light supper at the hall to chat, share experiences and get to know everybody

NEI GONG WEEKEND

Delving Deeply into the Process of Nei Gong and Qi Building

24,25 & 26th October 2026

    Henton, - Somerset

This 2.5 day Neigong workshop taught the LNG international school of Daoist arts senior teacher Paul Mitchell will systematically take new and existing students through the process of opening the body and channels (Kai men), developing the Dantians, filling the body with Qi and mobilising this substance throughput the body and into its external fields through enlivening Qigong exercises.

Nei Gong meaning “internal skill,” is a method of personal transformation that comes from the Chinese spiritual traditions. At its heart, Nei Gong is about changing the way your body, energy, and mind function together so that you can live with greater clarity, health, and spiritual connection

Qigong or internal energy manipulation through deep and profound practice has for the most part been poorly understood and watered down through the proliferation of simplified methods. While Qi Gong exercises are commonly taught for health or stress relief, Nei Gong views these exercises differently. In this system, Qi Gong is a set of tools, not the final goal. These tools are used to help you move through the internal stages of Nei Gong. They establish causes so the deeper effects of internal change can naturally arise.

Paul, who is the father of Lotus Nei Gong founder Damo Mitchell has trained and taught the external and internal methods of Asia for well over four decades prides himself on his ability to make the deep, and sophisticated internal principles contained within the LNG schools curriculum accessible to anyone that applies themselves with consistency and therefore everyone over the age of eighteen is invited to attend this event

Taiji Quan Workshop

28,29 & 30th November 2026

Details to follow

Taiji Quan

The subject of these workshops will be that of the Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan).
The Taijiquan taught in LNG Daoist arts is from the Zhen Manquin lineage of the Yang family branch of practice as taught by Huang Xing Xian. Unfortunately, in these modern times the vast majority of Tai chi and indeed most Asian internal systems have been watered down, due partially to the fact that simplified methods were devised in China in order to keep the general population in good health and also bad transmission of information from East to West. The Taijiquan of Lotus Nei Gong lies at the cutting edge of global understanding of the phenomena that is authentic classical Taijiquan
On these courses Paul will teach all students in attendance the internal principles necessary in order to develop their personal study into a truly internal art. In a systematic way he will teach the simple but elusive principles of:
sung ( the ever deepening release of tension in the human body )
ting ( the ability to listen with our mind to the movement of our internal energy)
the correct development of our connective tissues (the huang).

Through various exercises such as;• The Wu Song Shen Fa (5 loosening exercises),
  • • The Ba Men (eight gates)
  • • The 37 form of Huang Xing Xian,
  •    Pushing hands drills

Students will over time develop the elusive skills around the Jins of Taijiquan.
.

Nei Gong Introduction/Level 1

Nei Gong is a transformative system of alchemy energy work. It works with body, mind and breath using various tools such as;
  • Daoyins (to open and to lead) in order to purge toxins from both the body and energy system.
  •  Qi Gong (energy work) in order to smooth and regulate the channels
  • Standing postures in order to form the basis for all movement through the Nei Gong process,
On these courses Paul will gently introduce new students and also the more experienced to the Nei Gong practise required to develop the lower Dan Tien and direct the Qi correctly around the body. The quality of Qi is extremely important for Nei Gong practise. It has to be healthy, functioning well and circulating in the correct manner. Dan Tian involvement is extremely important as this is the vehicle to drive the Qi around the body in the early stages of Nei Gong practise.

As these courses will involve the early stages of awakening the lower Dantien the minimum age for attendees is 18 years. Beyond this restriction all students regardless of experience are welcome to attend these courses
